CHAPTER 1
Tires screeched around a corner, the sound of sirens and flashing blue & red lights lit up the darkness of the
night. The black SUV was racing through the residential streets attempting to elude the 6 police cars in close
pursuit. Behind the steering wheel was a frantic man with graying hair, driving at breakneck speeds to escape
capture.
“How could this happen? Everything was planned so perfectly. Twenty-five million dollars in unmarked bills
heisted perfectly, and those pigs found me!”
Swerving around corners with his foot all the way on the gas, De Luca was finally putting some distance
between himself and the police. Staring in his rear view mirror, he attempted to see if he had lost them. In the
distance he could see the police lights far behind him. A small feeling of relief came over him as he thought
he might just get away. Suddenly he looked forward just in time to notice a stop sign and a blue Honda in the
middle of the intersection. De Luca stomped on the brakes but it was no use. The SUV slammed into the front
side of the car spinning it around twice as his own vehicle lost control. De Luca saw that his SUV was heading
straight for a light post.
SMASH!
The SUV hit the light post on its driver’s side door. Glass flew everywhere. Some of the glass had cut the side
of his face as his head hit the window. Police sirens were getting louder and De Luca knew he had to get out
of there as soon as possible. The driver’s side door was wedged against the light post and De Luca was
unable to exit from that side. He climbed over to the passenger side to get out of the car. He tripped on the
seat belt falling face first onto the ground.
